  • Georgia Truckers Sue over Gas Tax Misuse

    A Georgia gas tax implemented in June has come under legal scrutiny by the Georgia Motor Trucking Association, F&W Transportation and Prolan Logistics, as the team files a class action lawsuit against the state for apparent misuse of the tax proceeds. The plaintiffs state that it is unconstitutional for the proceeds to be used for anything other than infrastructure improvements while the defendants argue that it can be used for property tax reductions or the construction of a new park. As gas prices continue to drop and prices are lower than they have been in years, more states are taking advantage of the low prices by implementing gas taxes. Reads more…


    Experts Fear China’s Crash Could Drag U.S. into Recession

    Much like with the Greek crisis of a few months ago, financial experts are not sure of the impact China’s downturn will cause, but are fearing the worst. It has been difficult to distinguish fact from fiction in the latest media blitz, but we do know their economy is suffering is going to get worse before it gets better. While even the highest level experts are not positive what cause a recession, past trends such as the 1998 financial crisis in Asia, has impacted the U.S. and cause a slight downturn in our own economy.     Etsy launches Manufacturing Program for Sellers

    What started as an online marketplace for homemade, artisan goods, Etsy has transformed into a global, mega-million e-commerce site with no signs of slowing down. This week, Etsy officially announced the ‘Etsy Manufacturing Marketplace’, a program designed to pair manufacturers up with Etsy sellers to accomplish the goal of mass producing the same artisan products we have come to love. This offers a valuable tool for small business owners who may be struggling to keep up with demand, and also gives manufacturers an additional revenue stream and exposure.     Holiday Rush Competition Lowers ‘Free Shipping’ Requirements

    The 2015 holiday season is upon us, and as in every year before, retailers are upping their competitive game in hopes of increasing revenues. One of the hottest trends for this holiday season is the promise of free shipping with a minimum dollar order, which retailers are now slashing down significantly to stay competitive. Toys R Us and Babies R Us, whom both previously has a minimum of $49 on free shipping orders have now cut that down to only $19, lower than Target and Walmart. Industry experts are happy to see retailers finally taking online shopping seriously, but think they may be going too far and are seeing evidence that profits are suffering due to the free shipping minimums.
